- First reports may be wrong. At least, follow the "48-hour rule".
- Don't politicize the tragedy -- you're more likely than not to be wrong.
- Don't blame heated rhetoric. Rhetoric is always heated.
- Keep the tragedy in context.
- Letislate carefully. (Indeed, craft policy at any level carefully.)
