Washington Post has an article today on techniques companies are using to spot and block phishing attempts. Among things they look for are:
- Links to page objects, like graphics, from unauthorized internet addresses
- High activity from one internet address on a weekend
- Accessing of numerous accounts from one internet address
- Domain name registrations that use information that appeared in other fraudulent domain name registrations
It might be a good idea to keep tabs on who's doing a good job of monitoring this activity, and insist anyone you have an account with use their services.
