To all veterans, and especially to veterans in training

A big thank you to the people who served. Because you've put yourselves in harm's way, we've been able, for most of our history, to ignore the fact that we live in a dangerous world.

Thank you, as well, to those who are in the services now. Some of you won't live to be veterans. Know that your sacrifice counts. For the rest, remember George Patton's words: "Your job is not to die for your country, it's to make the other SOB die for his country."

To Scar, a new member of my "adopted family", keep your head down. You can't put your friends back together if you've been blown up yourself. And you've got people waiting for you back here.
